In 2011 the Astronomical Association Turun Ursa will host the national amateur astronomy event “Tähtipäivät” in Turku. It will co-operate with Ursa and also Tuorla Observatory. The time of the event is going to be 19.-20. March 2011.
The city of Turku will be one of the cultural capitals of Europe in 2011. The same year will also reach 120 years since the birth of Yrjö Väisälä, the pioneer in Finnish professional astronomy. Väisälä lived and worked most of his life in Turku. Furthermore, it will be 40 years since the first Tähtipäivät, they were also held in Turku.
